More Places to Visit
There are plenty of other small markets to be discovered. In between the main market areas, you’ll find pretty streets, bars, and shops to visit.
Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert
If you’re in Brussels visiting the Christmas Markets, visit Les Galeries Royales Saint Hubert, even if you’re not planning to shop. It’s the most famous shopping gallery in the city, and during Christmas time, it’s stunning with golden balls and sparkling lights.
Belgian chocolate is one of the best in the world, so you must try it while you’re there. Neuhaus and Pierre Marcolini are great places to buy quality chocolate, making for an excellent gift. At the Christmas market stalls, you can find all sorts of delicious treats and foods, such as gingerbread, meringue, waffles, baked salmon, and more.
Lastly, grab a nice cappuccino outside a shop and wrap yourself in a blanket to keep warm.
Walking Around Town
*Dress warmly when visiting the Brussels Christmas markets, especially as the wind can make it very cold outside. Bring gloves, thick socks, a woolly hat, and an umbrella to protect yourself.
*Since the streets of Brussels are cobbled, it is best to wear waterproof and comfortable shoes.
*I recommended bringing a tote or shoulder bag to hold your belongings. Some Kiosks don’t have paper bags to give.
*Be cautious of pickpocketing incidents and keep your valuables to a minimum. I bought a leather wallet that can be worn around your neck and under your coat.
*Battery life in phones and cameras can be affected by colder temperatures, so keep your phone charged.
*Most kiosks do not have machines to pay with your debit or Visa card, while some do.
*At European Christmas markets, paying a deposit for a cup with your drink is common. You can reuse the cup throughout the market and then keep it as a souvenir or return it to any drink stall for a deposit refund.
