About

Welcome to Adventure And Retire, a unique travel blog that inspires baby boomers, retired individuals, and newcomers to explore the world safely, adventurously, and affordably.

My name is Elaine, and I am here to share my personal experiences and help you plan your next travel adventure.

Why did I start my blog?

I want to share my passion for travel and help others plan their adventures! While travelling, my family and friends always ask to take lots of pictures, where you visited, if the food was good and so on!!

We have travelled internationally, domestically, and on cruises, and we want to share our knowledge with you.

We firmly believe that travel can be done on a budget without sacrificing enjoyment, and we are here to show you how.

What You’ll Learn Here!!

We travel 3-4 times a year and enjoy every moment without breaking the bank.

Therefore, we share candid reviews of two—and five-star hotels,  B&Bs, suitable places for families, cruises, and restaurants.

We also highlight our mistakes along the way.

We have personally visited the information I share or had a family vacation.

We love to explore cities, try new street foods and find off-beat attractions and charming little streets to visit. We use trains or buses to visit neighbouring towns.

Like you, we are real senior travellers who want to explore the world and see everything.

Through our exciting and unforgettable experiences, we aim to inspire you to travel more, make the most of your trips, and create your unforgettable memories.

Some random facts about me

The Important things:

I started this blog during COVID-19 to share my love for photography and travelling. Through my lens, you can experience the places I’ve visited. My unique storytelling style and photos set my blog apart from others, focusing on travel.

While I’m not a full-time traveller, I work from home on a small island in Montreal called Ile Perrot. I have a degree in Fashion Design and Flower Design and completed a web design course, though I only used the design part with Photoshop and illustrations.

*I speak English and French and learning Spanish.

*I have two sons and one grandson.

*I have been travelling for over 40 years with the kids or not!!

*I am still an amateur traveller and photographer.

*We enjoy family trips.

The less important things:

* As a multidisciplinary artisan, I create various art forms such as copper jewelry, paintings, and more.

* My photography style mainly focuses on macro shots of flowers, architecture, and landscapes.

* I am passionate about creating illustrations and working with photos and computers.

* However, you won’t find many photos of me as I dislike being in front of the camera.
