Travel Gadgets You’ll Use (And Wonder How You Travelled Without)
Let’s be honest: some travel gadgets are just clever gimmicks. But others? Total game-changers.
Whether you’re planning a short weekend getaway or a long multi-week adventure, the right gear can significantly improve your trip.
Here are some of my favourite travel gadgets, each one practical, compact, and worth the space in my luggage. Or sometimes not, but I still need to take them.
When Travel Gadgets Are Worth It!
If they solve a problem, save time, or increase comfort, they’re usually a good investment.
Here are my 9 To Go Gadgets List
1- Universal Travel Adapter with USB-C Ports
Don’t play plug roulette at your hotel. A reliable universal adapter, especially one with multiple USB ports and USB-C compatibility, is a must-have. It ensures you can charge your phone, tablet, and more simultaneously, keeping you prepared and organized during your travels.
*Great for international travel, cruise ships, and airports.
2- Portable Power Bank
Running out of battery while navigating a new city.
A slim, high-capacity power bank ensures your devices stay alive all day. Bonus points if it charges your phone and your camera multiple times.
**Very useful if you travel with your young grandson LOL…
*Tip: Get one that’s airline-compliant (under 27,000 mAh).
3- Noise-cancelling headphones or Earbuds
These are great for use on noisy flights, while watching a movie, on trains, or in hotel rooms. Whether you’re blocking out the engine hum or the guy two rows back who won’t stop coughing, you’ll thank yourself.
*Worth it: even for short flights or long layovers.
4- Digital Luggage Scale
Forget the ‘shuffle-your-socks-to-the-carry-on’ dance at the check-in counter. A compact luggage scale allows you to weigh your bag before leaving your hotel room, providing reassurance and control over the weight of your luggage.
*Small but mighty, especially for souvenir lovers or a big shopping spree.
5- E SIM Card
You can stay connected without worrying about roaming fees. With a SIM card tool, you can easily swap local cards or use an eSIM, a savvy and cost-effective solution for staying connected while travelling.
*Tip: An old phone will not have a dual SIM card.
6- Bluetooth Item Tracker (like AirTags or Tile)
Toss one in your checked luggage, backpack, or purse. If it gets lost or delayed, you’ll know exactly where it is — no more guesswork. A Bluetooth Item Tracker uses your smartphone’s Bluetooth signal to track the location of your belongings, providing peace of mind during your travels.
My Take: I tried one and it did not work correctly for lost luggage.
7- AirPlay
For using your Bluetooth headphones or earbuds. Works great on an airplane.
8- iPad/Laptop
Good if you’re working abroad, playing games, or blogging, like me.
Con: If you don’t need it, leave it at home. It’s Heavy to lug around.
9- E-Reader
I always carry it. If the movie isn’t good on the plane, I’ll read a book.
These are useful if you have room in your bag!!
**Teck organizer
One place to store your belongings and keep everything in one place.
Bonus: Easier to locate in your bag.
**Portable HDD
This is useful if you take a lot of pictures and want to keep them safe in case you lose your camera bag or camera.
Tip: I back up my photos to both my laptop and the HDD, ensuring double security.
**Phone Cord
Keep your phone around your neck.
Bonus: You don’t have to look for it in your purse or bag. A great feature for quickly snapping a picture!
Never leave home without it !!
**Packing Cubes
It’s not exactly a gadget, but it revolutionizes how you pack. Keep clothes organized by type, outfit, or day.
*Bonus: You’ll have a bit more room in your suitcase.
**Camera/Cards/Batteries
**Backpack and Sling Bag
To keep everything in one place.
The sling bag is helpful to add your passport and phone while going through the airport.
