Things to Do in Viladecans Spain: on Sunday

Our Mediterranean cruise finishes in Barcelona. Once you leave the busy port, you might wonder what to do before your flight the next day.Viladecans

This time, however, our plans changed; we couldn’t just rush straight to the airport as we usually do.

With some extra time on our hands, I discovered a hidden gem in the small town of Viladecans, just 20 minutes south of the city.

I made the most of my layover by exploring Viladecans for an authentic, memorable experience before my flight.

Why Choose Viladecans for Your Last Day?

For our final day, Viladecans offers a convenient location next to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), so you can sleep in and still reach the terminal in just 15 minutes.

After experiencing crowds in places like Marseille and Barcelona’s Las Ramblas, arriving in Viladecans feels especially refreshing.

In addition, Viladecans boasts four kilometres of sandy beach and is much quieter than the busy Barceloneta area.

What to do on a Sunday?

Depending on your mood and interests, you have two great options for the afternoon. We explored both on foot, starting with a stroll toward the old town and away from the main sights. Even though it was Sunday afternoon and many places were closed, wandering through the quiet streets was still a delight—definitely better than staying in the room.

1-Visit the Torre Roja (Red Tower)

Parc de la Torre Roja is just a short walk from the beach and is considered the town’s historical heart.

The park features a medieval defence tower dating back to the 10th century.

This peaceful green park surrounds the ancient tower. It’s a great place for photos and offers a quiet break from the busy cruise terminals.

Plan to spend about 45 minutes to an hour here.

2- The old town.

We stop here for food.

Santagloria Coffee & Bakery

Excellent food. While everything was closed on Sunday, the place was packed, and service was slow.

We stumbled upon a charming restaurant, Bar Valladolid.

Service was attentive. The owner crafted homemade Sangria at the Cava, and every dish was outstanding.

Prices were surprisingly affordable, making this spot a true hidden gem.

Hotel

Many hotels in Viladecans, including Hotel Viladecans or AC Hotel by Marriott, provide airport shuttle services.

We stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Viladecans.

For your final night in Spain, keep it low-key. You don’t need a fancy reservation; you need good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

How to Get from the Cruise Port to Viladecans

When your ship arrives in Barcelona, here’s how you can get to Viladecans:

Taxi or Uber: If you’re carrying luggage, this is probably the easiest option. The ride from the cruise terminal to Viladecans takes about 25 to 30 minutes and usually costs between €35 and €45.

Public Transport: If you like exploring or want to save money, take the metro or bus from the port to Barcelona Sants Station. From there, catch a Rodalies train on the R2 Sud line to Viladecans Station. The whole trip takes about 50 minutes and costs much less.

Personal Insight:

Finishing your trip in Viladecans isn’t about famous sights—it’s a smooth transition where you enjoy the sea, explore history, shop, and rest, all close to the airport so that you can ease out of vacation mode with less stress.

You can enjoy the sea, explore some history, do a bit of shopping, and best of all, easily find hotels that offer convenience, comfort, and airport shuttle services, making it simple to reach your flight on time.
